Million Views in One Week: Oshi no Ko Season 2 Climbs Netflix’s Global Charts

Oshi no Ko Season 2 is making waves! The anime is back with new episodes, and fans are excited. Last week, the “Telephone Game” episode aired on July 10. Now, the show is ready for another episode.

Let’s talk about some exciting news for the series this year. Even with limited international coverage, the sequel has climbed Netflix’s Global Top 10 in the non-English category.

Episode 3 of Oshi no Ko Season 2 will be released on July 17. After its premiere on July 3, the show made it to Netflix’s Global Top 10 chart from July 8 to July 14. In its first week on the list, it got a million views.

The anime, based on the manga by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, ranked #7. It was one of two anime titles to make it on the chart this week, alongside The Rising of the Shield Hero.

The series ranked in seven countries: Hong Kong (#1), Japan (#2), Malaysia (#8), Philippines (#9), Singapore (#9), South Korea (#5), and Taiwan (#2).

This season will have 13 episodes. The opening theme song is “Fatale” by GEMM, and the ending song is “Burning” by Hitsujibungaku. Episode 3 is titled “Rewriting,” and its preview images were released a few days ago.

Here’s the official plot of Oshi no Ko: Dr. Goro is reborn as the son of young star Ai Hoshino after her delusional stalker kills him. He wants to help his new mother rise to the top, but the entertainment industry has a dark side.

It will continue the drama that started with the premiere on July 3. The new episode will be out today, July 17, 2024, at 11 p.m. JST. For other time zones, it will be available as follows:

In Japan, you can watch it on Tokyo MX, BS11, Television Hokkaido, KBS Kyoto, TV Aichi, and other local networks. It’s also available for streaming on ABEMA, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, Apple TV+, and more in selected regions. International viewers can watch it on HIDIVE.

The episode looked at the first cast meeting for the Tokyo Blade project. Some characters clicked right away, while others had unusual personalities. Ruby wasn’t happy about Akane playing Aqua’s fiancee.

It also showed the dynamic between the authors of Tokyo Blade and Sweet Today. Abiko, unhappy with the script, decided to write it herself.

The episode ended with Akane and Aqua on a date, watching a play to understand their roles better. Episode 3 will likely focus on Abiko and Goa’s partnership and how it impacts the show’s success.
