This beloved series, known for its mix of martial arts and comedic gender-bending, will debut its first episode exclusively at Anime NYC on Saturday, August 24.
Anime NYC made the big reveal on their official X page, teaming up with VIZ Media and Hot Topic for this special event. This fresh take on Ranma 1/2 is helmed by a star-studded team, including director Konosuke Uda (known for One Piece: Dead End) and scriptwriter Kimiko Ueno (from Delicious in Dungeon). The character designs are in the capable hands of Hiromi Taniguchi (FLCL Alternative).
For longtime fans, the reboot promises a nostalgic touch by bringing back original voice actors like Kappei Yamaguchi (male Ranma) and Megumi Hayashibara (female Ranma). Newcomers can dive into Ranma’s wild world starting October 5, 2024, when it airs in Japan.

Before Inuyasha took off globally, Ranma 1/2 laid the groundwork for Rumiko Takahashi’s manga empire. The story revolves around Ranma, who transforms into a girl with a splash of cold water, and his chaotic life with fiancée Akane Tendo amidst martial arts challenges and unwanted suitors.
Anime NYC will run from August 23-25, 2024, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, promising more anime excitement beyond just Ranma 1/2. For those itching to revisit the original series, Hulu offers the complete Ranma 1/2 anime, while VIZ Media brings the manga to English readers.
