Takopi’s Original Sin’ Anime Unveils Stellar Cast, Talented Staff, and Captivating Promo Video

The Jump Festa ’25 event on Sunday had some incredible surprises in store for us. They announced the main cast and staff for the upcoming anime adaptation of Taizan 5’s manga “Takopi’s Original Sin” (also known as “Takopii no Genzai”).

But that’s not all – they also showed off an amazing promo video and let us know that the anime will make its grand debut in 2025!

So, who’s going to bring these characters to life? The talented Kurumi Mamiya will voice the adorable alien Takopi, while the wonderful Reina Ueda will play Shizuka Kuze, the earthling Takopi befriends. We can’t wait to hear them in action.

Behind the scenes, some incredible people are working hard to make this anime the best it can be. Shinya Iino, who directed “Dr. Stone” and “Dr. Stone: Stone Wars,” will direct this anime and oversee the series scripts.

Keita Nagahara, who worked as a key animator on beautiful shows like “Violet Evergarden,” “Sound! Euphonium,” and “Sonny Boy,” will design the characters. ENISHIYA will produce the anime, ensuring it looks and sounds fantastic!

What’s the story about, you ask? Viz Media, who licensed the manga, describes it like this:

Takopi, a cute little alien, comes to Earth and meets Shizuka, a human who’s feeling pretty sad. Takopi wants nothing more than to make Shizuka smile again, but soon discovers that even with the ability to travel through time, some hurts are hard to heal.

Taizan 5 started the manga in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ in December 2021 and wrapped it up in March 2022. Shueisha released the second and final book volume in April 2022. You can read the manga in English on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus platform.

The manga made quite an impact during its short run. It got nominated for the 16th Manga Taisho Awards and the 27th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes in 2023.

It even won the Manga Kingdom Tottori award at the 51st Japan Cartoonists Association Awards in 2022! Plus, it ranked at #3 in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook’s top 20 manga for male readers list in 2022.
