Alice Glass previews Aqua’s cover of “Barbie Girl”

Alice Glass teased a cover of Aqua’s 1997 hit “Barbie Girl” with Adore. A 33-second glitchy clip of Greta Gerwig’s work is set to trailer footage for her much-loved film barbie film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, although it is unclear whether the track is affiliated with the film’s soundtrack. Glass only said it’s “coming soon” and shared a pre-save link

For anyone who’s wondering, Aqua’s original song will not appear in the film. (Mattel actually sued Aqua in the ’90s and lost.) Speaking to Variety last year, Lene Nystrom suggested that using Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” in the film would be “cheese on cheese.” . Soren Roasted said: “We must say we turned it down. Ryan Gosling is not good enough!” Although he is excited for the film. “I completely understand why they didn’t use it,” Nystrøm continued. “But it’s going to give us a lot of attention no matter what.”
