Daredevil: Born Again, But Two Fan-Favorites Will Not Be Back

Jon Bernthal will suit up again as The Punisher for Daredevil: Born Again.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed on Tuesday that he will be joining Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio for the Disney+ revival.

The 18-episode (!) series is set to begin production later this month in New York.

Bernthal initially played Frank Castle in 12 episodes of Daredevil, before headlining The Punisher for two seasons.

The series was canceled in 2019, at a time when Netflix grounded its entire slate of Marvel series.

At the time, there were concerns that not all of the superheroes who were to be part of Netflix’s slate would return.

But last year all shows left Netflix and moved to Disney+ worldwide, paving the way for the return of some heroes.

Daredevil: Born Again just got an expanded episode order, a definite confirmation that fans will get updates on some of their most beloved characters.

Many of the returns will be kept under wraps until closer to airing or until fans see new episodes.

Daredevil: Born Again is on track for a 2024 bow, but will be missing some big names.

THR notes that Deborah Ann Woll and Alden Henson, who played Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, will not be returning.

Also, there is no telling whether their roles will be reprised or not.

Undoubtedly, the focus of Born Again will be different than the initial three-season series, but we’re sure it’s in good hands.

Charlie Cox at The Defenders event

Deadline revealed late last year that Revenge veteran Margarita Levieva had joined the cast as a potential love interest for Matt Murdock.

Also reportedly joining the cast are Michael Gandolfini and Sandrine Holt.

Cox revealed in an interview with NME last year that he doesn’t expect the show to be as dark as it was on Netflix.

Cox explained, “I’m of the opinion that this character works best when it’s geared for a slightly more mature audience.”

“My gut instinct is that on Disney+, it will be dark, but it probably won’t be as gory.”

“I would say to [people hoping the Disney+ show copies the Netflix show]We’ve done that.”
