Elle Fanning wowed fans in a sequined cut-out gown that had little to imagine.
star of Great Currently attending the Cannes Film Festival, where she has made several red carpet appearances.
But it was the sequined dress worn by the actor on Friday (May 19) night that really caught the attention of fans.
In a series of photos shared on Instagram, Fanning was seen wearing a plunging Paco Rabanne dress whose skirt is covered in long, shard-like silver sequins.
The bust of the dress is virtually non-existent, with two metal cut-out snowflakes above the breasts and a silver necklace connecting the bodice to her neck.
“Now THISSSSS is a party dress,” Fanning wrote on Instagram, along with a series of disco ball emoji.
Fanning’s famous friends were quick to praise the look, along with Lucy Boynton: “Diseased.”
“I died [skull emoji],” echoed Naomi Watts.
“Wow,” wrote Maude Apatow, while Cara Buono wrote: “No words!! You’re inspiring a whole new vocabulary!!”
Mocking the risky cut-out, one fan wrote: “You have so much confidence in that dress lmao. It’s a stunning look though!”
“My nips could never be…” joked another.
Journalist Evan Ross Katz called Fanning a “one-woman Met Gala”.

Earlier this month, Fanning shocked fans as she revealed she was once turned down from a major film franchise because of the number of Instagram followers she had.
“I didn’t get a part for something big that one time because — maybe it’s not just the reason, but that was the feedback I heard — because I didn’t have enough Instagram followers at the time,” she said.
“That’s something I’m not sure about, because I didn’t get to play a part in it,” he said.
Fanning stated that she does not feel the pressure of working in major franchises to remain “relevant”, although she acknowledged that it “obviously does something to people”.
“But you also don’t know if it’s going to work sometimes, which is scary,” she said.
