Yamada and Abe launched the manga in shogakukan‘S Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine in April 2020. The 10th volume will be sent on 16th March. i.e. media Published its seventh volume on 17 January. The manga went on hiatus from January 1.
The fantasy tale follows the journey of Freyren, an elf who once traveled with staunch companions on dangerous adventures to defeat evil. When peace comes, she bears the burden of her long-standing caste, and watches her friends pass before her one by one. And as she mourns aging and the passing of old relationships, she makes valuable new relationships along her journey.
The manga has won several awards, including the New Creator Award for the 25th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2021 and the 14th Manga Taisho Award in 2021.
