Gulshan Devaiah talks about his film 8 AM Metro.

“Some people said the movie reminded them of The Lunchbox. It honestly didn’t occur to me. I couldn’t stop but imagine how awesome it would have been if Irrfan was still around. It’s one of my favorite movies It is a lovely film about two strangers. I can understand the comparison but at the same time I don’t think it is fair to compare me with Irrfan and his films.

8 AM Metro is directed by Raj Rachakonda. The film has been shot in Hyderabad. Prior to the film, Gulshan had worked with Saiyami in Unposed. The two share a mutual admiration and respect for each other. About reuniting with her, Gulshan said, “We really got along. We took care of each other even in bad days. The film focuses on romance and drama, but with utmost sincerity, as two strangers meet unexpectedly while boarding a subway. Together they discover many things in their lives. Gulshan shared his view on the concept, “It is almost romance. It makes you look at them and wonder why are they not together? They have other lives too. Sometimes people come from happy families and they meet someone from outside and feel they are perfect. These positions also open up many things in your life.”

Has Gulshan ever had a conversation with a stranger that left a lasting impression? He recalled, “I once met someone with whom I had discussed my divorce and he shared it. We found some sort of consolation and comfort without judgment. But I really can’t say Maybe meeting someone has left an experience forever.

While many celebrities are not quite comfortable sharing details of their personal lives, Gulshan is different. “Some things are very personal and I will not share them with anyone else. You may have a broken marriage but not a broken relationship.

“I am lucky. I really give as much credit to my ex-wife Kaliroi for making sure that we retain all the good things and don’t waste anything. Want to be an example. I am saying this because I have many friends who can also talk about their ex’s. I never wanted this for myself. People think it is difficult, actually it is No. We gave ourselves time, we were in no rush. She is my best friend now. I can tell her anything. If I go on a date I tell her I went out and this happened That’s what she used to share with me. I miss her, sometimes. I miss being around her. I’m sure she does too. Our relationship is in a different phase now,” explained Gulshan with a smile. .

Metro plays an important role in the film. When asked if he has any metro or train travel anecdote, Gulshan shared one when he had to pretend to be Kalki Koechlin’s bodyguard and save her from the crowd in a Mumbai local. “In 2009, a few of us including Ranbir Kapoor, Nakuul Mehta were doing a workshop. Kalki’s Devdi had released in 2008, so she became quite famous. But, he didn’t realize that he was famous.

“We lived in Versova and there was a lot of traffic on the road. So, we used to take the local train to reach the workshop which starts at 9 am. All of us boys, as security guards at the station, stood around Kalki every day. No one could believe that a popular actress like Kalki is taking a local. A little too much used to happen but we used to laugh about it. We were worried but he said, ‘No, it takes an hour and a half by car.’ Every day we used to pick him up from his house to Andheri station in an auto and then catch a train. We also felt a little important because we pretended to be his bodyguards.
