I’m a Behemoth Anime Drops New Trailer: Cast, Staff, and January Debut Revealed!

The anime adaptation of I’m a Behemoth, an S-Ranked Monster, but Mistaken for a Cat, I Live as an Elf Girl’s Pet is coming in January! The official website recently released a new promotional video that gives us a sneak peek into the anime’s world, its cast, and more.

In the video, we learn that the opening theme song, called “Saijōkyū no Kokoro” (Supreme Heart), will be performed by Nonoka Ōbuchi. Nonoka also voices the character Lily, a high pixie girl in the show. The song was composed and arranged by Enon Kawatani, adding some great music to the series.

New Cast Members Announced

The new video also introduced two new characters. First, we have Nonoka Ōbuchi as Lily, a rare fairy species called a high pixie, who lives in forests and forest dungeons. Next, there’s Yū Wakui as Feri, a high dryad girl with a special power that lets her control forest plants. These characters sound magical, and they will definitely add to the fantasy world of I’m a Behemoth.

Staff and Production Team

The anime’s team is packed with talent. Yūsuke Shirato, known for In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki, and a group called “oni” are composing the music. Flying Dog is handling the music production. The anime is directed by Tetsuo Hirakawa, known for his work on Shine on! Bakumatsu Bad Boys and Grimoire of Zero. Kanichi Katō, who worked on The Eminence in Shadow, is writing the series’ scripts. Tomoyuki Abe is in charge of character designs, and he has worked on other popular shows like The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague.

The main characters of the show include:

  • Tasuku Hatanaka as Tama
  • Riho Sugiyama as Tama in his cat form
  • Hinaki Yano as Aria
  • Tomori Kusunoki as Vulcan
  • Hitomi Ueda as Stella

These voices are sure to bring life to the fun and adventurous characters in the anime.

The Story

If you haven’t heard of I’m a Behemoth, the story follows a knight who, after dying in battle, reincarnates as a powerful monster – a behemoth. The only problem? He’s still a baby behemoth, and to others, he looks just like a housecat! An elf adventurer ends up taking him in as a pet, and their journey together is full of excitement and challenges.

Manga and Light Novel

The anime is based on the light novel series written by Nozomi Ginyoku. There is also a manga adaptation, both of which are being released in English by Yen Press. The light novel first started in 2017 and ran through five parts before ending in 2021. The manga, illustrated by Tarō Shinonome, began in 2018 and is still ongoing, with 11 volumes published in Japan.
