James Nesbitt, 58, has reportedly rekindled his romance with Katy Gledhill, 40, and ‘understands the baby is a part of him’
James Nesbitt has reportedly rekindled his romance with former flame Katy Gledhill after welcoming a baby boy.
The 58-year-old actor and the 40-year-old split two years ago after it was said she wanted to focus on having a child before she turned 40.
She welcomed a daughter last year with the help of a close friend.
And now, it is reported that the Cold Feet actor and Katy have come close to each other again.
After calling him an “amazing boy”, a source claimed that being with his girlfriend is most important to him and that he “understands that the baby is a part of that”.
“It’s definitely a very modern set-up, but everyone is happy and that’s what counts.
“…he cares for her and they remain close, so he is carrying out some ‘daddy duties’ even though the decision to have a child was completely free, at a time when they were not together “
The source told The Sun that James wanted to do whatever he could to help Katy.
James and Katy got together in 2015 and were seen together at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards in the same year.
However, things soon went south and a friend claimed that the couple had different opinions on having children.
James already has two children, Paige, 26, and Mary, 22, whom he shares with actress Sonia Forbes-Adam.
He married Sonia, daughter of the Reverend Sir Timothy Forbes Adam, in 1994.
They met when he went to the last call-back for Hamlet at Loughborough Hall in 1989.
In October 2013, James announced that he and Sonia had called it quits after 19 years together. They got divorced in 2016.
A spokesperson for the couple at the time: “James and Sonia are living separately and have been for some time. They are on the best of terms and ask that the family’s privacy be respected.”
The star has spoken of past “disastrous” mistakes. These included one involving flirting with a 22-year-old secretary and another involving Cold Feet co-star Kimberly Joseph.
He said: “It had nothing to do with my wife. Whenever I did something like this, drinks were involved.
“I don’t think I’ve done anything serious. I just regret the hurt it caused my family.
