HBO Max cuts almost claimed another Caped Crusader
The latest Batman animated series was almost canceled before it even started, but it has been saved by Amazon Prime Video. Batman: Caped CrusaderAbrams, Matt Reeves, and Bruce Timm’s animated series has been revived by Prime, and it’s getting at least two more seasons.
Batman: Caped Crusader Originally announced in May 2021 and set to stream on HBO Max. However, The Batman Animated Series was one of the victims of the streamer’s cost-cutting decisions, which shelved nearly completed films bat girl Plus dozens of other movies and series.
Shortly after, the project found itself at the center of a contest for its rights, with streamers like Netflix, Hulu, and Apple running in, according to a story in The Hollywood Reporter. Ultimately, the show landed on Amazon Prime Video, where Reeves, Abrams, and Timm will have a chance to make at least two seasons.
Of course, this isn’t Matt Reeves’ only excellent Batman project. 2022 director Batman A sequel film is also in the works, coming in 2025, as well as other shows for HBO Max. the Penguin,
The move comes alongside several others for Amazon, including an entire expansion into the Creed universe (and by extension the Rocky universe), which the stream announced Thursday. New Creed Projects was headed by Michael B. Jordan will and it could include spinoffs focused on Adonis Creed’s daughter Amara, or even an anime.
