Jujutsu Kaisen Animator Defends MAPPA After Season 2 Criticism

Jujutsu Kaisen season two was seriously the talk of the town in 2023! People couldn't get enough of the epic story and hair-raising fight scenes.

It was so popular that it received multiple nominations at the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards.

But, like anything growing up, there were some bumps in the road. Some animators had a lot of fun with magic studio Mappa.

However, it was an animator who actually stood up for Mappa instead of joining the complaining crowd.

This animator who worked on season two originally said,

“Yes, it was difficult. The workload was heavy and the salary was also not very good. But, compared to some programs in America, it wasn't that bad. And I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of something as amazing as Jujutsu Kaisen.

However, it's not just Mappa. The entire anime industry has its issues when it comes to how they treat their animators.

As for the content of Jujutsu Kaisen season two, produced by Mappa, it delved deeper into the Hidden Inventory Arc and Shibuya Arc, which is widely considered the peak of the series.

These arcs marked turning points in the story, leading it into a narrative trajectory of no return.

The season deftly highlighted the complexities of these arcs, from the introduction of characters like Toji to the climactic sealing of Gojo.

Despite the obstacles faced by its animators, its action-packed visuals and narrative depth have solidified its reputation as one of the finest anime seasons to date.

Looking ahead, the anticipation for season three is palpable, with production already underway and a teaser confirming its existence.

However, no official release date has been announced, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter of the Jujutsu Kaisen saga.
