Manoj Bajpayee says he has seen Shah Rukh Khan ‘lose his entire family’

Manoj is currently gearing up for the release of his next, a courtroom drama titled Sirf Ek Banda Coffee Hai. The film is set to premiere on ZEE5 on 26 May. Directed by Apoorva Singh Karky, the film traces the story of a lawyer fighting against a rampant system.

Remembering his friend from his early days in the profession, Manoj told The Lallantop, “It gives me immense pleasure to see us at the stage we are in, the kind of world Khadi has for itself. A person whose whole world has been destroyed. When Umar was 26 and his entire family had gone, then he had his own world of Khadi. The family created its own, made such a big name, respect for itself. 25 is commendable. He made his place, his family. He worked hard to achieve all the fame and name that he has now).

Manoj further added, “I respect this because I was among all the friends around him who saw all this happening with him. There can never be any bitterness for Shahrukh for me.

During the interview, Manoj also said that in his early days, Shah Rukh Khan and he used to meet often and they even worked together for a while. However, they no longer find time to meet frequently as both Manoj and Shah Rukh have created “separate worlds” for themselves. But, they have mutual respect for each other, Manoj said.

Manoj Bajpayee was recently seen in Gulmohar. Currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, Gulmohar features Manoj as Sharmila Tagore’s onscreen son and also stars Simran and Suraj Sharma. It was directed by Rahul V Chittela.
