Netflix’s Leviathan Teaser: Studio Ghibli’s Joe Hisaishi Behind the Soundtrack

Netflix has dropped the first official teaser for the Leviathan anime series, set to premiere in 2025. The teaser focuses on the main characters, Deryn Sharp and Prince Aleksander, as they navigate a dangerous, war-torn world. With no dialogue, the teaser relies on a powerful orchestral soundtrack to create a sense of tension and excitement.

Christophe Ferreira, known for his work on Eden, directs the anime. Joe Hisaishi, famous for composing music for Studio Ghibli films, contributes original songs. Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi also join the team as music composers. Orange, a well-known animation studio, handles the production.

Justin Leach and Taiki Sakurai serve as executive producers, while Qubic Pictures manages the overall project. Leviathan is based on Scott Westerfeld’s 2009 novel, the first in a trilogy. The book series also includes Behemoth (2010) and Goliath (2011), and fans have been eager to see it brought to life in anime form.

Set during World War I, the story follows Prince Aleksander, who escapes after losing his claim to the Austro-Hungarian throne. Meanwhile, Deryn Sharp, a commoner, disguises herself as a boy to join the British Air Service. When their lives intersect, they embark on an epic journey that will forever change their destinies.

The teaser has sparked excitement, promising a thrilling blend of history, adventure, and fantasy. As fans count down the days, Leviathan looks ready to deliver a stunning visual and emotional experience when it premieres on Netflix in 2025.
