On Sunday, NTV unveiled a thrilling announcement regarding the introduction of a fresh programming segment, aptly named “Friday Anime Night,” set to make its debut in October on NTV and its 30 affiliated networks. This highly anticipated block will now call Fridays at 11:00 p.m. its new home.
The maiden anime series to grace this prime time slot will be the small screen adaptation of the beloved manga created by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe, titled “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” (Ss no Frieren).
What sets this revelation apart is that the “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” anime will take over the coveted Friday 11:00 p.m. slot, a space previously reserved for NTV’s “Kiny Roadshow” block, traditionally dedicated to showcasing feature films.
The anime will make its grand entrance with a special two-hour episode on September 29, still airing under the “Kiny Roadshow” banner. However, all subsequent episodes will find their place within the “Friday Anime Night” lineup, retaining the same time slot.
It’s important to note that the anime’s official website hinted at NTV’s intention to create a new anime programming block when it first disclosed the premiere time slot.
Furthermore, NTV can also boast of its “AnichU” late-night anime programming block, which originally took flight in July 2017 with the debut of the “Fastest Finger First” anime series. This particular block specializes in airing anime after midnight and has recently showcased titles such as “Shine Post,” “The Marginal Service,” and the ongoing “Helck” anime.
