Ōhashi Hirai’s The Days of Diamond manga is taking a longer break than expected. Fans were hoping the manga would be back soon, but now it will return on October 31. The official announcement came from the Shueisha Young Jump magazine, where the series is published. The reason for this extension is that Hirai, the creator, is building up extra chapters, also known as a “buffer,” to get ready for weekly releases again.
Originally, the manga was supposed to come back on October 3. However, the extended break gives Hirai more time to prepare and release the next volume smoothly. This is not the first time the manga has been on hiatus. It was paused earlier on September 5 because Hirai was working on the seventh volume of the manga. And before that, the series was on break from August 8 due to personal reasons but came back on August 29.
The Days of Diamond, which is also available digitally on MANGA Plus, follows the story of Jiro Ayasegawa, a talented young boy with a natural gift for sports, especially baseball. However, being so good at sports can sometimes be lonely. Jiro is so skilled that other players have quit after playing against him, and it has made him feel isolated. But everything changes when he meets a local kids’ baseball team called “The Bambies,” who play just for fun. Jiro thinks this will finally be an easy-going team he can enjoy playing with, but things don’t go as smoothly as he expects.
The manga was first launched in February 2023 in Young Jump, and its seventh volume was released on September 19. Fans are eagerly waiting for the next issue, and the good news is that the wait will end soon, with the manga returning by the end of October.
This extended break may feel a little long, but it’s all for the best to make sure the story continues smoothly without any more interruptions. Fans can look forward to exciting new chapters starting October 31.
