Everyone needs a “working life partner”.

You start out as friends but pretty soon you’re sharing edgy looks, finishing each other’s sandwiches and joined at the hip the moment you walk through that office door in the morning.

ITV chief has backed Philip Schofield to keep working for the channel

Amid reports that Philip Scofield could be heading Channel Five, what we’ve heard so far would suggest that ITV are very keen to keep him on their channel.

“Philip is one of the best broadcasters of his generation and we thank him on the couch this morning for his two decades of absolutely terrific television.”

Scofield began working on This Morning in 2002, with Holly Willoughby joining him in 2009.

It is unclear what the new “peak time” program is at this point, but it seems that ITV are reluctant to give up on a figure who is widely regarded as one of their top presenting talents.

Opinion: I’m not surprised by Philip Schofield’s exit – it’s been a long time coming’

I don’t mean it should be bad, I just mean it should be a hush. When you were sick from school or as an adult, you had something for breakfast on a day off.

As someone who follows politics and current affairs, it is also useful for tracking when a story has “broken”; In other words when something is showing up in the more mainstream discourse on my “For You” tab on Twitter. there is a reason today morning Listed as a magazine program. It’s a TV show covering the stories you might read about in a dentist’s waiting room. Magazine is never the story, it is the medium through which we reach the story. So the fact that Philip Scofield has — as he admitted on his Instagram page — became the story himself, poses a problem.
