Rose Bowl music festival quickly evacuated as ‘severe storm’ makes surprise landing in SoCal

Rose Bowl concert canceled due to 'severe thunderstorms'

Pasadena, California. (KABC) – The Cruel World Music Festival that had to be abruptly evacuated due to the storm made a surprise appearance at the Rose Bowl on Saturday night.

The National Weather Service said they were monitoring the storm system, which made its way past Mount Olive and between Pasadena and Monrovia.

“This storm can produce strong winds, heavy rain, lightning and small hail,” the NWS said. in a tweet.

As for the concert, it has been postponed and attendees have been asked to leave via emergency exits as soon as possible.

The festival tweeted before deleting the post, “The festival has been postponed until further notice. Please evacuate the festival venue immediately. Use the nearest emergency exit. Stay tuned for updates.”

The festival has since posted a tweet urging festival-goers to exit the concert site and move to vehicles or other protected areas for security.

“Due to inclement weather, please exit the venue and move to your vehicles or protected areas outside the venue for safety. Stay tuned for updates,” he tweeted.

A storm broke out during Iggy Pop’s performance. Many concert goers were disappointed as the evacuation forced them to miss an upcoming performance by Siouxsie Sioux.

“It’s disappointing, but it’s understandable because I saw the lightning,” said Ivonne Espinoza, a concert attendee.

Michelle Gee of Pasadena said she had been looking forward to the concert for months.

“I’ve been planning this for months. And, it’s okay. It worked out though. I’m okay,” Ji said.

It is unclear at this time whether the rest of the concert will be rescheduled.

The video also shows rain in Monrovia due to the storm. The Monrovia Days festival also had to be cut short due to weather.
