This week’s Rewind is another monthly edition of ‘Picture Parade’. The offering is timed not only to coincide with the start of the 2023 Ontario Sires Stakes season, which begins this weekend, but also to recognize the program’s 50th year of existence. Each photo from this week recalls a past contestant on the now famous and highly successful program. Please send your answers if you choose to do so. Included in today’s Rewind is a trivia question related to OSS history.
Some of the photos date back to the early years of 1974, the year it all began. Most of the captions will be exactly the same.

Can you recognize the driver of this horse? The colt was part of the 1974 season and was a successful competitor in many events, finishing third in the money-earnings for three-year-old trotters. Can you name this person and maybe the horse too?
OSS General Knowledge Questions: As we begin the 50th year of the Ontario Sires Stakes event, I’m going to ask a question that hopefully someone in the reading audience (r more than one person) can help find an answer. Can you tell us whether the series has been organized every year or not. This would mean starting from the 1974 season and with plans to join in the 2023 season. This can include anyone with a direct involvement such as the owner, trainer, driver, caretaker, blacksmith, judge, etc.
Comment: I don’t have an answer for that because I’m not at all sure that anyone has been involved in this for a full 50 years.
