‘Shazam 2’ opens to poor box office on two-year anniversary of Snyder Cut

First, there’s ‘Shazam 2’ – which hits theaters this weekend, and is already off to a rough start with an estimated $30M domestic opening … the worst of any DC film . Memorization, zachary levyThe future of Gunn moving forward in the world hangs in the balance… and you have to imagine that his movie (former part of the DCEU) bombing here doesn’t bode well.



More pain could be on the way for Gunn & Co. That’s before they can get to their actual new slate – which will begin with “Superman: Legacy” two years later. DC hasn’t even released ‘Aquaman 2’ and “The Flash” yet… both were completed before Gunn arrived.

Time will tell how they do, but for now… ‘Shazam 2’ isn’t paying off. Meanwhile, Snyder fans are celebrating two year anniversary His “Justice League” flick – known as the “Snyder Cut”. And yes… they are once again clamoring for ZS superhero content.

Cause… they want their guy to continue the “Snyderverse” with all those former actors/heroes – like ben affleck, Henry Cavill, girl gadot, jason momoaetc.

Making matters even more complicated is Jack himself… who, just this week, made an announcement — courtesy of one of his big DCEU villains, Darkseid. It’s not clear what it is… but it set the internet on fire with speculation — looks like ZS really isn’t going away.

Bottom line…the DCEU has left some mighty big shoes to fill, and those shoes are stepped up as everyone waits for Gunn and Peter Safranvision to come to life.

Starting from scratch, as it turns out, is a long and tedious process. There’s a lot to haul out of the garage, and not everyone wants leftovers on sale… as WBD is now finding out.

A super sized headache, indeed.
