Two Americans who were abducted on the Mexico border near Texas last week have died … that’s according to state officials.
americano villarreal — The governor of the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, which includes the border city of Matamoros where the kidnapping took place — confirmed Tuesday that they would find all 4 US citizens who were taken away by armed assailants … and 2 were dead.
There is news of 2 others being injured. There is no word yet on where or under what circumstances they were found, but emergency workers are on the scene and are caring for the surviving Americans.
Crew of four – identified as friends and family Latvia Maggi, Shaid Woodard, Jindal Brown And Eric James Williams — were traveling in a car with North Carolina plates, although it is unclear from which state they were originally traveling.
What we do know… They drove into Mexico from Brownsville, TX in a white minivan, shortly after which they were attacked by gunmen who opened fire on them and snatched them in the middle of the road — part of Which was captured on video.
Some have assumed that it is related to the cartel, but so far … there is no evidence of this. The FBI has also stated that the group of four had no criminal ties to Mexico, and they do not believe that they were targeted before arriving in Mexico. It appears to have been executed at random and on the spot by criminals… who are currently absconding.
The reason they were headed to Mexico at first was because one of them was planning on going through a belly tuck south of the border. The US State Department has warned Americans to stay away from Matamoros due to the high risk of crime/kidnapping.
There have been reports that it could be a case of mistaken identity.
