Twitter informed staff members via email of their employment beginning Friday morning in the message delivered Thursday evening.
The email stated, "We understand that this will have an impact on a number of people who have contributed greatly to Twitter,
but this move is unfortunately required to ensure the company's success moving forward."
According to a Twitter employee, the team hadn't heard from Twitter since the acquisition on October 27 until Thursday's email.
After completing his $44 billion acquisition late last week, Musk was said to be planning to reduce the 7,500 employees on the company's payroll.
When he took over the firm, he quickly fired Parag Agrawal as CEO, along with Twitter's CFO and head of legal, public policy, trust, and safety.
