Liverpool heroes Nunez and Suarez ready to take the World Cup by storm
For a nation of 3.5 million people, Uruguay's World Cup record is little short of remarkable.
Diego Alonso's squad an encouraging mix of grizzled, experienced veterans and up-and-coming talent. Luis Suarez and Darwin Nunez are the master and apprentice, agents of chaos.
Uruguay striker Renato Nunez is following in Luis Suarez's footsteps at Liverpool. The 23-year-old has scored nine goals in his first 18 appearances for the Reds.
His record is better than Suarez's at the same stage of his career.
Luis Suarez says former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers told him to 'listen to an idiot like me' during his time at Anfield.
"I really appreciate that message and the fondness he has for me," says the Uruguayan, who signed for Barcelona from Barcelona in 2009.
Darwin Nunez and Luis Suarez are likely to start together in Uruguay's World Cup opener against South Korea on Thursday.
