Just after the exciting finale of the golfing anime Tonbo!, fans have something to look forward to—a second season is on the way! It’s set to premiere in Japan in Fall 2024. The first season ran from April 6, 2024, to June 28, 2024, and had 13 episodes.
The first season was directed by Jin Gu Oh, who also worked on Beyblade Burst QuadDrive. The story was written by Mitsutaka Hirota, known for Rent-A-Girlfriend. Akira Takeuchi, who designed characters for Bastard!! -Heavy Metal and dark Fantasy, did the character designs. Keita Hattori, from Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion Z, was the 3D director, and Nobuko Toda, known for her work on RWBY: Ice Queendom, composed the music. The animation was produced by OLM.

Plot and Characters
Tonbo! is based on a manga series by Ken Kawasaki, with illustrations by Yuu Furusawa. The story takes place on the beautiful Tokara Islands, where golf meets human drama. Kazuyoshi Igarashi, the main character, has left his old life behind and found a new home on Hinoshima Island, known as “Japan’s last hidden paradise.
There, he meets Tonbo, the island’s only middle schooler, who has an incredible talent for golf. Their encounter sparks a major change in both of their life.

Manga and Streaming
The original Tonbo! manga started in Golf Digest’s Weekly Golf Digest on August 4, 2014. By May 2024, it had grown to 50 volumes. For international fans, you can watch select episodes on Remow’s It’s Anime YouTube channel. The anime is also available on Amazon Prime Video with an English dub at the same time as its Japanese release.
