Big news for anime fans! Netflix is about to start streaming weekly episodes of the anime series Sakuna of Rice and Ruin. The show has been airing in Japan since early July 2024. Starting on August 10th, 2024, new episodes will be available every Saturday on Netflix.
Sakuna of Rice and Ruin is based on a popular roleplaying game from 2020. In the game, you play as Sakuna, a goddess who has to explore a monster-filled island and clear it out. The anime follows the same story. Sakuna, who was banished because she was lazy and wasteful, must now grow rice and protect some humans on a dangerous island.
The anime features voices from Naomi Ohzora, Rika Kinugawa, Takashi Narumi, Ryota Yano, and Hikari Kubota. Masayuki Yoshihara, known for directing Komada: A Whiskey Family, is in charge of the show. Jukki Hanada, who worked on Sound! Euphonium, is writing the series.
