New Beginnings For Takako Shimura As Her One Short Manga Gets Serialized

Takako Shimura took to Twitter on March 21 to announce that Hitorigurashi’s previously published Futari (Living Alone Together) one-shot manga will receive regular serialization. The series will debut in the spring issue of Bungeishunju’s Bunshun Woman magazine, published on the same day.

The manga follows the daily lives of two neighboring women who live a single lifestyle. Bungeishunju originally published the one-shot in the magazine’s fifth anniversary issue on December 22.

Shimura also recently revealed the Koiiji spin-off manga Hatsukoi no Tsugi (What’s Next After First Love), which will begin serialization in Kodansha’s Kiss magazine starting April 25. Additionally, a new manga by Shimura will be launched in the 70th issue of Shodensha’s OnBLUE boys-love. magazine, also on April 25.

Previously, Shimura created the Awajima Hyakkei manga, which debuted in Ohta Publishing’s PocoPoco online magazine in July 2011 before moving to Ohta Web Comic. The series concluded with the release of its fourth compilation volume in August 2022.

Shimura’s well-known works include Wandering Son and Sweet Blue Flowers, which were adapted into television anime series in 2011 and 2009, respectively. She also provided original character designs for anime such as Aldnoah.Zero, Battery the Animation, and Overtake! racing anime

Additionally, he created a short-lived manga adaptation for the Battery novels. Fantagraphics Books is handling the North American release of her Wandering Son manga, while Viz Media is responsible for Sweet Blue Flowers. Seven Seas publishes Shimura’s Although We Are Adults (Otona ni Nattemo) manga in digital and print formats.
