What Was Yuta’s Reason for Going to Africa? Explained

[ad_1]

The finale of the second season of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime adaptation left several major storylines unresolved and ended on a cliffhanger with the surprise return of Yuta Okotsu, the original protagonist of the manga's prequel Volume 0.

Yuta's return after being absent for so long is exciting for readers of the manga, as he is expected to play an important role going forward.

However, his trip to Africa before the events of the season has often been overlooked by fans.

Despite Yuta's immense power in defeating rival Geto single-handedly, he was deliberately written to stay away during the disastrous Shibuya Incident.

This was likely done by the author to allow the main characters to develop without having to rely on Yuta to resolve the conflict quickly.

Now with Yuta back in Japan, his relationships and history with characters such as Gojo and Geto can be further explored.

And with the jujutsu world still recovering from recent turmoil, Yuta's role in shaping the way forward is highly anticipated.

Utah's training in Africa is a gamechanger

Yuta's trip to Africa before the events of the season served an important purpose in the story – to train him to become an even stronger jujutsu sorcerer.

His unique ability to copy other cursed techniques made Africa an ideal place to learn from magicians like Miguel.

Miguel was important to the development of Yuta because of his knowledge of the area and his agreement with Gozo after their battle.

Training under Miguel allowed Yuta to acquire many new techniques and return to Japan as a more capable fighter, as shown by his feats in the manga since then.

In addition to healing Rika, who he thought had sacrificed herself against Geto, Yuta obtained a powerful African talisman called the Black Rope during this period.

This device enabled him to negate cursed energy and attract Gojo with his ability. Gojo likely recognized the benefits of Yuta traveling with Miguel to gain this and other skills, explaining Yuta's notable absence during the disastrous Shibuya incident.

Now in Japan, Yuta has grown considerably as a magician. With new abilities and relationships, his role is expanding and his impact on the jujutsu world is highly anticipated.

Yuta's unique abilities

An interesting fact is that many of Yuta's abilities were introduced in Volume 0 of the manga, before author Gege Akutami planned to continue the story beyond that miniseries.

At that time, concepts such as domain expansion and reverse cursed techniques did not yet exist.

As a result, Yuta has a very rare and unique skill in the series. His ability to copy almost any cursed technique developed when the Akutami had no established combat system.

Additionally, Yuuta's childhood friend Rika turns out to be a powerful cursed entity that is forever bound to him, this happened before the planned power systems.

These unprecedented abilities make Yuta different, as he was created before a magical system was developed with limitations defined by the author.

Now as the story progresses, Yuta returns with powers that grant him greater flexibility than other jujutsu magicians.
