Colin Jost and Michelle Che are back saturday night live “Weekend Update” and took on the Oscars for hiring a crisis team to try to avoid slap-gate this year.

“Guys, this is not going to happen again,” Jost said. “I’m sure you want it to be for the ratings.”

Jost then pitched ideas for a promo for the Oscars, asking “Who gets slapped this year?”

“Can Ana de Armas beat Cate Blanchett’s tar?” was one of his ideas.

He continued, “Which Banshee will drop the shoes from Marcel the Shell?” and “What do whales have on Brendan Fraser?”

Earlier this week, Bill Cramer, CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, gave an interview where he spoke about not preparing for a repeat of the Will Smith incident from last year.

“We have a full crisis team, something we’ve never had before, and many plans. We have run several scenarios. So it’s our hope that we’ll be prepared for anything that we can’t anticipate right now but we plan in case it does happen. Time magazine.

He continued, “Depending on the specifics of the crisis, and let’s hope that nothing happens and we never have to use these, but we already have frameworks that we can modify.”

The 95th Annual Academy Awards will be live on March 12 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood with host Jimmy Kimmel.
