Two weeks ago, Dan Walker stunned the nation by taking a selfie of his bloodied and swollen face following a horrific bike accident.
But the 45-year-old 5News anchor looked like a whole new person at Action’s ultimate news quiz for kids at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London on Thursday night.
The newsreader hosted the special charity event alongside her former BBC Breakfast colleague Sally Nugent, 51.
Dressed in a navy blue suit and smart brown brogues, Dan flashed a big grin for the cameras before the star-studded event began.
He marked the occasion by posting a selfie with Sally on his Instagram page. He captioned the upload, “Working with this legend on the ultimate news quiz tonight.”
Dan was injured after being hit by a car while riding his bike in Sheffield on 20 February.
He announced the gruesome ordeal on Instagram where he shared pictures of his injuries.
At the time, Dane wrote: ‘The whole week didn’t go as I planned, but I’m on the mend. ‘I am so grateful for all your kind messages and to my family and dear friends. I am also grateful to the paramedics, police and the people who looked after me in A&E.
He later addressed an image of his battered face during an appearance on The Jeremy Vine Show.
‘I am very grateful that I have recovered,’ he told the presenter. ‘Basically, there’s got to be some lumps and bumps and grazes everywhere.
‘My hand is badly damaged. I won’t take off my trousers, Jeremy, but I’ve got a big bruise on my right hip at the moment.’
Dan said he was ‘really grateful’ to the paramedics, police and those who looked after him in hospital.
He also disclosed that the police had informed him that five members of the public sat with him for 25 minutes until the ambulance turned up.
The presenter continued: ‘I don’t remember any of it, Jeremy, I can’t remember anything from the moment I reached the roundabout, but it’s such things, the goodness of people in difficult situations.’
Dan explained that he doesn’t remember much of what happened during the accident.
He said: ‘I know there is a video playing but I haven’t seen it. I do not want to see this.’
‘I haven’t got any flashbacks. And I really don’t want any.
‘I’m just very grateful that I’m here and I’m fine and the scans all say my brain is fine and if I can come out of this with a few lumps and bumps, like I said, I’m very grateful.’
