Noted director Siva Nageswara Rao, known for films like Mani and Sisindri, manned the megaphone after many years for Dochevarevura. The film has hit the theaters today. Let’s see how it is.
Story :
Sidhu Sr. (Pranav Chandra) and Sidhu Jr. (child artist Chakri) indulge in theft to earn their livelihood. Sidhu Sr. meets Lucky (Malavika Satheesan), and they fall in love with each other. Sidhu decides to help Lucky solve his problems. Meanwhile, Vimal (Ajay Ghosh) hires PK Satti (Bithiri Satti) to kill his wife Parvati (Pranavi Sadhanala). What is the reason behind Vimal’s plan to kill his wife? What is the relation between Satti and Sidhu? You will get these answers after watching the film.
Plus Points :
It is good to see director Siva Nageswara Rao back with another crime comedy. In this film, the director focuses more on the villain and his backstory, which is definitely an important part of the story.
Ajay Ghosh, who played supporting and villain roles till Aaj Tak, played the role of a hero in this film. Moreover, he plays dual roles, which makes the story a bit more interesting in the second part.
Lyricist Chaitanya Prasad’s son Pranav Chandra did well and so did heroine Malvika Satheesan. Both played their respective roles well. This pair looks good on screen as well.
Child artiste Chakri delivers his best performance. Apart from the performance, his dialogue delivery is impressive and the good part is that he helps the film in a big way with his comedy timing. Sadanala too delivers a clean performance that elicits laughs, especially in the second half. Others are fine in their given roles.
minus points :
Director Siva Nageswara Rao has chosen a crime comedy drama that barely has anything intriguing. We have seen such stories many years ago. Also, the narration is quite boring and tests the patience of the audience.
Although the film has a few comical scenes that elicit laughs here and there, the rest of the story falls flat, which makes one wonder what message the director wanted to convey with the film.
The emotional scenes could have been better written and set up to make Dochevarvarura fit. They look funny, blame the proceedings.
The director should have focused more on the other characters played by Bithiri Satti, Banerjee and Tanikella Bharani. He failed to bring out the best in him.
technical aspects :
It would be fair to say that Shiv Nageswara Rao has been a failure in every sense. The story they chose to tell is out of date and has nothing to impress the audience. Arli’s cinematography and Karthik’s background score are average.
Some of the tracks composed by Rohit Vardhan are good to listen to and even watch on the big screen. The editor still has several scenes to trim in both halves. The production values are okay and the makers could have been more cautious about dubbing and DI.
Decision :
On the whole, DOCHEVREVURA is a low level film with nothing in it except very few comedy scenes. It would be wise to skip this film and consider watching other films instead.
